How Much Time Between A Ticket And Court Date?
Posted by admin
About how long do you think it will be between when I got my underage drinking ticket, last night, and my court date? I'm worried because I have 2 out of state trips coming up in the next 4 1/2 weeks and the court date is mandatory. And if there's a conflict will I be able to reschedule, especially if I'm willing to do it earlier?
You have a right to a speedy trial, this is a subjective term, generally if you elect to go to trial it would be within a months time.
You should have received a court date at the time of your citation or a number to call to elect for a court date (thru the clerk of the courts office) in lieu of entering a guilty plea and paying your fine.
Good Luck

I think you usually go within 30 days. Call and I bet the County you need to go to will set you an earlier time if possible. Be prepared to do Community Service-mandatory and the possibility of losing you liscense because you are under age. Depending on what State you live in, your parents could also be in for quite a stiff fine.
Hope you learned young and won't do this again.
